Over the next couple of years, 5 classics will follow. Pinocchio, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, Fantasia 2000, and Beauty and the Beast are next up on Blue Ray.

I'm really pumped for Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 (I saw it in theatres!). What's interesting about the Fantasia 2000 is that it will be it's first re-release. I already have Fantasia on DVD but I'll buy the Platinum Edition version too because I'm that obsessed.

Sleeping Beauty Lithograph

Recently I went to the Disney Store and pre-ordered Disney's Platinum Edition Sleeping Beauty. What does this have to do with Disney? Why, they use the song "Rhapsody in Blue". Still don't get it? Rhapsody in Blue was also used in Disney's "Fantasia 2000".

It's classical music but it's still worthy of being in the movie. The art style is much like "Class of 3000" and very different from your typical disney animation (just like Lilo and Stitch). My favorite part would have to be when Rachel, the little girl, is trying different things but keeps screwing up. Oh, and does anyone else think John looks like Mr. Snoops from Rescuers?

Just something fun to share with everyone :)
The commercial can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzvamSr3lec

and the Fantasia 2000 segment at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEm5ff0wxIc&feature=related

Why am I not surprised?

Johnny Depp is working for Tim Burton... again. I chose the color orange because it goes good with her hair. As for the goose, I didn't know how to draw the legs so I decided not to draw them. I didn't bother researching to find out how to draw goose legs. Like I said, I've been getting lazy. For those who don't know what the golden goose girl is, it's a Grimm fairy tale that happens to be one of my favorites. It's a story about a princess forced into posing as a geese caretaker while her waiting-maid takes her place as the princess. The real princess has hair of gold (Rapunzel isn't the only one famous for her hair ^_^ ).

These are my first sketches of her but I thought the chubby cheeks made her look too childish so I changed that.

I know only her hair is gold but I wanted her whole color pallete to be gold or yellow. Unlike most disney blondes the hair isn't a yellow blonde. I wanted it to look more like a bronze/gold so I added tan and brown to the hair. Also, unlike most disney blondes, her eyes aren't blue. Instead I went with a yellowish hazel. Again, unlike most disney blondes (or disney caucasians) she's a gold tan. She works outside all day so you can't tell me she won't get a tiny bit darker.

I wanted her to have some sort of feather design on her dress but then I came up with a different idea. The dresses will be posted in my next entry. Keep checking my blog!

AFI's 10 top 10: Animation

Snow White & the Seven Dwarves

Pinocchio

Bambi

The Lion King

Fantasia (PWNED the others! I never thought that Fantasia would make the cut. Not that it's bad or anything. It was my first Disney movie so it's very close to my heart. It's actually my favorite Disney movie because it influenced me greatly with my interest in art. No, what makes it's appearance on the countdown surprising is the fact that some people have heard of it but only a handful have actually seen it.

You can see clips and other countdowns at http://www.afi.com/10top10/animation.html.
I recommend you click on the link because you can watch the original movie trailers for each movie in the countdown.
